SEPULTURA Guitarist Talks About Upcoming Solo Album
February 2, 2006Jeffrey Easton of The Metal Exiles recently conducted an interview with SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser. A few excerpts from the chat follow:
The Metal Exiles: You have a brilliant live DVD out now called "Live In Sao Paulo", let's get into it. Why did you decide to release one right now?
Andreas: "We have not had something like that out since 1992 and of course Max left so we wanted our new singer (Derrick Green) to be comfortable with the old material. We felt that now was the time and after touring for two years touring for 'Roorback', we were ready. We did it in Brazil in front of our crowd. Over 90% of the people there were wearing SEPULTURA shirts."
The Metal Exiles: How did the fans in Brazil take to "Roorback"?
Andreas: "The opinion of 'Roorback' was great by our fans and in general. It was a very raw album and shorter than the last ones. We did not use any guests either as we did before, we just had one play drums on a track. It was an album that prepared the ground for this DVD to happen and for the record that we will be releasing in March."
The Metal Exiles: As far as yourself, you were working on a solo CD. When can we expect that?
Andreas: "Sometime next year as I am working on some parts when I have time. It will be a double album with the first disc being electric and the second disc being more acoustic and percussion."
The Metal Exiles: Why did you decide to do that now?
Andreas: "There was this label in Holland [Mascot] and said I should release something myself. Here is the deal, release something if you want to. I have a lot of material lying around so I am organizing it and recording it now. I am taking my time, as I am not in a rush, I want to enjoy it as much as I can."
The Metal Exiles: I noticed something in your bio, you are into World War II. What intrigues you about that?
Andreas: "I was born in Brazil because of World War II. My mother was born in 1945 and was forced to move here with family because of it."
